How It Works
1. Contact us
Contact us by phone or via the contact form here on our website. Choose from any of our gorgeous wood furniture here online or contact us to come by to check out our entire selection in person.
**Appointments are required for all visits**
2. design consultation
Schedule a design consultation where we will chat about your needs and wants. We will discuss your style, color and finish options. We can then provide you with an estimate.
3. Estimate on paper
We will prepare a plan for you to review and approve. Most estimates are very close to the actual cost. We may agree to adjust something mid-project, therefore the estimate is not set in stone.
4. Project updates
Once we've agreed on all the details and an agreement is signed, we'll get started.
Updates will be sent periodically throughout the process.
5. The big reveal
After a final protective coat and a few days of curing, it will be time for our big reveal of your beautiful new statement piece.
Pick up is in our Broadview Heights, Ohio studio.
My Style
It depends upon the day!
Some days I am beachy, airy and light. Other days I am grunge meets rock and roll. Then there are the days I am somewhere in between.
I am instantly drawn to the Queen Anne and Bombe styles.
My soft spot? Definitely vintage and antique pieces!
Before I had any idea of how to tell differences in wood types, my father turned me onto Pennsylvania House years, so now I am enthralled with these pieces as well.
Yes, sometimes it is very hard emotionally for me to paint over beautifully aged wood! But, I know that in another 50 years, the piece will still be solid and sturdy and the next generation can take the piece back to its original state, once it is back in style.
My process and Mediums
I start with prepping each piece, typically with an environmentally safe stripping agent. I then sand my pieces to ensure for optimal adhesion. Most painted pieces will receive a few coats of primer before color to ensure that the natural tannins in the wood do not bleed through.
My mediums are made up of many types and brands of mineral paints, chalk paints, gel stains, beeswax and hemp oils. Most of my mediums are non-toxic, ammonia and formaldehyde free and have a zero to low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds). After all, these pieces will be used every day in your homes, so let’s not add any more chemicals than we need to in our lives.
Many pieces include embellishments and extras to give them a one of a kind feel, just like YOU!
